Should OS X be given to other OEM's?

Do you Think Apple's Mac OS X should be available for other OEM's other than Apple such as Dell or HP? Do you think the world would benefit from this action from Apple? There are no Right or Wrong Answers. Feel free to post and know I will not attack you.

Most of the time people switch to an os is because they are buying new hardware(laptops,desktops ect..) besides apple loves to have %100 control over its products. What i do think is that some companies should start doing more proprietary software that is unix/linux based like what asus is doing. All i run now is osX on my macbook pro and linux on my eepc and dell laptop and i think people are getting a great deal(because linux is free) if they switch to linux due to them not liking windows anymore. Then again your general consumer is not bright enough to install linux.; ▶ Reply to This

Most of it is commandline run, and the installation and software range is not all that great. Now granted as it gains popularity, as it has since the early 90s, more and more companies cater to it but...the software run on the OS is just as important as the OS. Because without software, an OS is just there.

And many just don't want to learn new software because they are dissatisfied with their current OS. Usually a waste of time when you can just deal with the current problems until they get fixed.

Personally windows was never bad enough for me to abandon anyway so I am more than content to wait as it attempts to improve itself. That and I crash MACs easily. And my software is windows only and doesn't run well in WINE.; ▶ Reply to This
