Should I go against my parents?

Well I have been wanting to get a tattoo for almost an entire year now. I am now in the position where I can get one but my parents are totally against it.

One side of me says, screw them it is your body your decision go get it. Then the other side of me says man your mom will be so upset with you how could you do that.

My dad doesn't really care so much about the tattoo he thinks I shouldn't waste my money on it.

So any advice here? Should I go against my parents wishes and get it, or not?

Since a lot of people are bringing up the point "don't get it just to get it" here is why I want it.

The tattoo has a lot of meaning to me.

Ever since I turned a teenager like 13 to 17 I was always doing stupid stuff and making excuses for myself I never took and responsibility for anything that I did. Then I got a really BIG reality check a little while after I turned 17. From that point on I have always owned up and took responsibility for everything that I do. No more excuses. Especially this last year I have completed and overcame a lot of challenges and I never gave up.

Which is where the tattoo comes in, I wan't to always be reminded of that.

I want to get it somewhere on my forearm area. "No Excuses" with some tribal design or something.

I haven't had it designed yet, but in my head it is there and looks great, and I really want it.

But if it is just for the sake of having a tattoo or the way it looks then it is not worth getting; especially that it's PERMANENT!

I think you better look around at the Geeks on this page. There is a group devoted to Geeks and their tats.

Geeks do not fit into some little category. We all come in different shapes, sizes, backgrounds, etc etc...

All of my tats represent who I am or who I was at that point in my life and I would never get rid of them nor do I regret ever getting them.; ▶ Reply to This
