Ubuntu 9.04 was released a few days ago, but I wanted to give it a good go before I blogged about it. For all you who didn't know Ubuntu 9.04 is a Linux distro (a version of Linux) its totally free. Now prier to me trying Ubuntu I had never played with Linux before. Let me tell you I really like it, its clean and still looks good. In fact my main Operating system is now Linux (Ubuntu 9.04). I seriously enjoy using it. All this talk that there are hardly any programs or games that support Linux. Well let me tell you Ubuntu comes with all the programs most common users would need also it comes with an application that allows you to search and find programs just for Linux. I have found some really enjoyable games, you are probably thinking "Yeah I bet they are low grade games", actually to my amazement they were great! ( Online First person shooters,3d car racing and much more) The best of all they are all totally free! My favorite game for Linux is Alien Arena which is totally free and you can play online. There are actually a fair few people that play this game so online is really enjoyable. In all honesty I have paid for games far worse then games available on Linux.

In my opinion you should give Linux a shot, its totally free.

Thanks for your article.

What im most interested in, is if you have found many (if any) bugs so far?

I installed it the hour it came active, and i wasnt impressed at all.

It was slow and a little buggy OTB.

Well to be honest firefox seems a bit sluggish not sure if this is ubuntu or mozilla. But honestly I have not encounted any bugs worth mentioning. I really like it, as I mentioned its my main OS now. I play FPS online games and they work fine. I am using the 32 bit version BTW. It seems reasonably fast for me, faster then vista thats for sure. (in my opinion, dont shoot me) I am duel booting ubuntu with vista business.

This is the first time I have ever used linux so I was impressed.

Thanks for your comment!
Remember to go to my website and vote in the poll I am very curious to see who else uses it!

Interesting, I will have to take a look again. I had it installed for 3 hours - that was it. maybe things have changed with the updates they have released.

Well at least when I gave it a go it worked and still does, maybe its the disc you burnt it to assuming you tried to duel boot it (thats what I did) but if you ran it virtually it could be a different story ( I havent tried it virtually)

oh no, of course, I ran it dualbooted.

I might just have to give it another chance.. when i can find my disc :P

Maybe when you downloaded it there was an error maybe redownload it.

yeah looks like thats my only option anyhow. I cant find the disc.

there is an option on the Live CD called ·Check CD or something like that, that should answer your error question.

Its Firefox.
Mozilla Firefox was designed under a Windows environment, therefore its not going to perform as well on OS X or Linux as it does under Windows. Its a sad fact.
Epiphany also is also gecko-based, and has a few of its own extensions. Though, not quite as customizable.
I'm still waiting for Chrome for Linux - though Google is doing something that hasn't been done since IE for the Mac was last made, develop a separate version of its browser for each OS its releasing it for.
So the OS X and Linux versions of Chrome will not see any borrowed code from Windows - though they will share code between the OS X and Linux versions a bit due to the fact OS X is UNIX based.

Buddy, Firefox under windows currently sucks too. so that doesnt say much for the Mozilla team :P

I love firefox, its really good for what I use it for.

@Tyler_Brown: ah ok well then I cant wait for Chrome! I have also been using Konqueror for linux which is faster then firefox for linux.

Dont get me wrong, I LOVE Firefox, and im stuck with it because of Foxmarks. But the memory it uses is just unbelieveable really.
