Dear all, my pc was repaired recently due to power supply failure. i changed my PSU on May as i took the advise from fellow friends here. My pc specification is in this post. http://geeks.pirillo.com/forum/topics/what-went-wrong
however, i realized something has gone wrong eventhough it has just repaired. when i play game, connected to a logitech steering wheel, it will suddenly restart itself or gives me a blue screen saying something like physical memory dump.. something like that. im not sure why. my system is currently overclocked at 3ghz and running in auto power mode.
pls help as i dont wanna send my pc for repair again..~~

I think your problem comes from overclocking!

Don't overclock and see how it works.

agreed, you may be sucking too much power

Todays PSU's will just trip out totally and be "stunned" for several minutes when over taxed, then come back on. In that time you get nothing, no lights no nothing. I do not think this is the issue. And also, most PSU's except for really dirt cheap ones, will go beyond their rated power.

i realized i only encouter the prob when i play 3d game...

I agree w/ Ron on this on, instead of overclocking, just get a faster processor, or one fast enough to meet your needs, they have some nice ones out right now.

i tried, the CPU was not overclocked when the PSU breaks down.
btw, i had the blue screen again, it says beginning dumb of physical memory.
could it be my RAM, as far as i know, Vista can only support 4GB, 3.5GB to be exact. but i have 5.
could it be the prob? i just removed it from my mobo, will try to play game and see if it happens again

PSU breakdown the first time sounds like a separate issue from your BSOD. Overclocking this 2nd time around may be the issue. Keep the issues separate, k?

well all the while my cpu is in 3ghz, the last thing i did to my pc is that i added an ide 120gb hdd, and added 1gb ram, and replaced gpu to gtx9800. thats when my 1st problem occurs, thats y i changed to a more powerful psu.
i did not change much configuration to my pc except the 3ghz overclocked. its already 3ghz when i bring this pc home for the first time so i guess it wont be this problem aite?

Shtanto, i've already updated my gpu driver, and for the rest of my hardware, there's nothing much to update according to the computer techician who fixed my pc. but too bad they dont do any burn test or provide overclocking service~~

btw, im still playing with my game GRID for an hour already and its not giving me problem, i only took out 1gb of extra RAM and nothing else...

Ok, I can't really handle this kind of topic for very long.

In my estimation, over-clocking is a risky business.

You mentioned over-clocking, and I believe that is responsible for some if not all of your problems.

You could likely have other problems such as faulty memory.

Windows Vista 64-bit can handle more than 3.X of memory.. Do you have Windows Vista 32-bit?!

It sounds like you have your work cut out for you.

Unfortunately I'm too busy and easily confused to stay with this thread.

Good luck.

anyway, i revert back to 2.4ghz... hopefully it really stop all problems...

Well that could be the problem if you have Vista 32 Bit.
