Ok, I should preface this by saying I'm on a ludicrously restrictive diet, and without exception, my only two options for breakfast are oatmeal with a protein shake or egg whites. Since I'm allergic to eggs, the choice seems to be obvious, except for one problem:
I hate oatmeal!
So, my question/challenge goes out to all of you oatmeal lovers. What is the best brand of (plain, no additive) oatmeal, and what are the best ways to make it that adhere to the following:
*No added sugar (simple, natural or otherwise)
*No fats (this means nuts and the like)
*No lactose
*No extra carbohydrates (as it's a bowl of carbs already)
I hate oatmeal plain as well but oatmeal is a base food, it tastes bad because it is born to be mixed with something. I can't see why any diet would restrict you from fresh fruit at the very least.
That is an incredibly strict diet, no matter what you are doing, and it sounds like a bad idea because you will eventually come off that diet.. unless you plan on eating like that for the rest of your life..
Oatmeal is good no matter if its plain or has a lil flavor to it, It does however remind me of the sludge you would find in the bottom of an oil pan that came off a blown motor. Thick sticky and will hold even a 900 lb man to a wall. LOL none the less its still good and now im craving some.. Thanks alot!
You know, I absolutely hated oatmeal too. I really enjoy Steel Cut Oats, or Rolled Oats from your local Whole Foods bulk bins. The quaker quick oats just feel like old people in my mouth. ... These actually have some texture to them and are quite delicious.
