Netbooks are becoming increasingly popular, but one major turn off to consumers is the fact that they don't have a disc drive.
So I was just thinking...Considering Blu-Ray is also newish and going to be the format of the future, do you think it would be wise to make this the format for mini netbook discs? I mean-They can hold as much or more info than a standard CD at a smaller size.

I was also thinking that flash memory would be something to consider, but it's easier (or atleast people already know how) to just burn a disc.

So would this be smart, or just a slap on the forehead?

well its both a good and bad idea to include a blu ray drive in to a netbook good because blu ray is catching on with the consumer market but econamyicly it's a risk because from my formatt rescreach there are several new fromatt on the consumer market that do have the power if managed right over throw blu ray as the main high defination disk fromatt. so my idea is to wait untill blu ray grows and gains more moentum or over is thrown and a another formatt in it's place. so just wait or devlope a micro flashdisk formatt for the netbooks for data storage and transfer

Blue-Ray or DVD aren't on netbooks because of manufacturers desire to keep cost down, improve battery life and keep the computer compact and light. I've had my netbook for about 6 months and havn't found a need for a one. To get data on and off the netbook I utilize the web, usb drives, sd cards or home network. I also have a USB DVD drive I could use if needed.
