Hi i have an ibm thinkpad 600e which asks 15v and 2.6amp. I have a charger from a hp and gateway that put out 19v and 3.16v is it safe to use these with my thinkpad because my moneys tight at the moment. Or is thier somewhere that isnt ebay were i can get a cheap charger as its important. (btw i also have a toshiba charger thats 15v and 2amp but its not enough amps so is this safer then the gateway and hp one?.
The manual for the thinkpad should have a power spec for the adaptor, as far as i know. Or by using the Serial Numbers and google you should be able to find the manual, hopefully.
the one that you were given with the laptop or for the laptop other chargers shouldn't work anyway the jack will be different there are also a number of power chargers for all types of laptops chargers but the difference in make of the chargers means the jack is different buy an adapter or buy an original either way you should not pursue a route that means attempting to plug in the laptop with the wrong jack etc.
