WARNING!!! MAY CONTAIN SPOLIERS!!!

I was thinking about House and I thought I would bring this up with you ...
There is no reason why Kutner would want to commit suiciude. Can someone explain this to me? I think I missed the episode when House finds out that Kutner died. I think I watched the one after, when Cameron finds the ring.

I think it was overkill. Kutner was the only one that could maybe replace House while he is unable to work, the others in the team are no comparision to Kutner or House. But I guess his death was to insure he'd never be able to come back ... Which is BS because he is kind of back ... But I doubt he'll stay long. He won't give up his job with the 'Big O'. What does he do anyway? And what are your thoughts/opinions?

I have one thing left to say : Obama, DAMN YOU, BITCH!!! WHY DID YOU TAKE KUTNER FROM US!!! *sob*

He was a fool to leave one of the top rated shows. The producers killed him off because they were pissed that he wanted to leave after they spent so much time developing his character. There are plenty of actors who would have loved to been given the opportunity that the show gave him, and he basically said screw you and left. I hope he never plans on getting another good acting job again after this. He can probably kiss that chance good bye.

With that said, it's his life and his choice, and he was entitled to it, but he shouldn't expect everyone to understand, and he shouldn't expect Hollywood to welcome him back with open arms. They will probably always be skeptical of his intentions after this. IMO his new job in the administration is not worth it. He's not even the top guy at his new post. He's something like an assistant to the deputy secretary of some public relations division. Whoopee! LOL.

The actor Penn told Entertainment Weekly that Kutner's suicide was hatched because the real-life Kal Penn wants to leave the show and work in the White House as part of the Obama administration with his job being an associate director in the Office of Public Liaison for the purpose of being a liaison connecting the Obama administration with arts and entertainment groups, as well as with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities.

The reason he left is known...that's not the issue here. It's why the producers decided to have his character commit suicide rather than build some story into the plot that would leave the door open down the line for him to return. The producers were mad that he wanted to leave...mad enough to write him off in a suicide so there was no coming back. Basically a punishment for screwing them over.

Wow...well that's ruined it completely for me...I'm in the UK and we've only just started on Series 5.

In future please add a spoiler notice so that those of us browsing the threads don't read something that ruins a massive plotline in one of our favourite TV shows.

I'm so sorry! I really am.

I will add spolier notices from now on. And again, so sorry.

Don't apologize for something you didn't do. The show has been over for months now. Not up to you to worry if the show airs and will finish 6 months down the road in other countries. When I don't want to hear a sports score or how something turns out I avoid the news and internet until I watch it. It's my responsibility to do so. Seeing a House related thread and going into it, and reading it wasn't the smart thing to do if you're not looking to have things so called "spoiled".

You did nothing wrong.

Hey Martyn...perhaps knowing your season runs later than the original maybe it's up to YOU to stay away from the House threads. That makes more sense. Do you really think people are going to put a spoiler warning on a show that aired two months ago? Be realistic.

except he did come back, he was a hallucination of house

he can't come back alive, but if the producers were "mad" at him, they probably wouldn't let him near the set, let alone in one of the (if not The) final episodes of the season.

The suicide sets up the end of the season, where house sees both Kutner and Amber (both of which are dead) and in the start of the next season they'll probably still have some Dead Kutner hallucinations.

They probably killed him because they can no longer depend on him to be there, and rather than have him there some episodes and then make up tens of excuses why he isn't, they made his part much more flexible. Being dead, they can put him in whenever they want, with no explanation other than "house can see him but other ppl cant". Which is better than, "Ep 1: He's Here, Ep 2: He went on vacation, Ep 3: His father died, Ep 4: He's here, Ep 5: his mother died." they'd run out of things for him to be gone doing.

They could have had him just get another job somewhere else, like what they did at the start of the 4th? season with the old cast, but again, his death sets up the end of the season, so we'll still have to see what happens at the start of season 6(?).

The scenes were filmed and complete BEFORE he left for Washington. Shows are filmed weeks and sometimes months in advance.
