I couldn't find any decent graphs depicting average bandwidth usage. As for an opinion, I feel that such a cap is silly. It should be "changed" by being removed. From what I know, capping is an attempt at stopping piracy. Well, while a static cap will stop excessive torrenting, it will also affect people who download legitimate games online (e.g. through the Steam client), or download movies legally.

The only alternative I have other than to get rid of it would be to charge a larger fee to those wanting more than the cap offers. Even still, none of this will completely stop people from illegally downloading anything.

Anyway, outside of that, what specific information are you looking for?

We have Rogers Cable at our Toronto home. Our cap is 95 GB per month. Quite low compared to other ISP's. If I exceed my cap (which I always do), I am charged a certain amount per mb up to a maximum of $25.00 a month for anything over 95GB. Rogers doesn't throttle your speeds back for exceeding your limit, so I just plan on paying an extra $25 a month.

We have Comcast at our Michigan home and thus far they havn't placed a cap on us.

I have a 250GB cap with Comcast, I have never exceeded this limit though so I don't know what happens if I do.
