and works EVERYTHING than from the this router software or do i realy need to install it on a router?

The reasons why i want to install it are:
- 'cause i need it for school.
- 'cause i want to create a preview for it by myself.
- and cause i want to try to make some port forwardings with it, and thats why i asking for if its possable, so: is it possable to create portforwardings when i install it on a personal computer?

so has someone more information?

Thank you,
Pheros

IPcop installs can be installed as a "headless" (no keyboard, mouse, monitor (after setup that is)) system. As you stated it can also be installed on a Virtual Machine in VMware or M$ VPC. Basically IPcop is a custom linux distro that installs just like any other linux distro, but it is specifically geared towards routing and firewall features. If you have any questions just let me know, I or anybody else I'm sure will be glad to help.
