And why are you asking if we may know? Are you looking for a date or is it some kind of research? Do you want to date a specific geek? You know, geeks are people, too

there are all kinds of geeks, good, bad, worse, cool, nerds, handsome, ugly, outgoing, socially retarded, some like big boned girls, some like thin girls...etcetera

General research for a possible book and for playing matchmaker with friends. I have many single female friends (non-geeks) and many male geek friends. The girls are mostly Christians, the guys are not. I think it is importnat to have similar beleifs or a very solid acceptance of the other person's. Seems to be a deal breaker.
I adore geeks - I consider them "diamonds in the rough" when it comes to relationships. They are the kind of men who can make great long-term relationships work. Many self-proclaimed geeks tell me they don't understand women though. I know you are all different - some VERY different! :-)
So, bottom line, just looking for relationship discussions. Thanks

Well, I believe in the maker, but I'm not a Christian, what happens then?
Generally geeks are not religious because it's not logical, and to be a true geek IMO means, to think logically. And religion, especially Christianity sounds very irrational to rational people. Technology is a science, and science is based on logic and proofs. Since there is no logic and no proof in Christianity, and you are expected to "Just believe", "Have faith", every geek will dismiss that kind of thinking. I'm speaking in general, there are, as I mentioned above, all kinds of geeks.
Especially fanatic geeks, they are so called "fanboys", they have a religion and their "maker", but that maker is not really their maker, but a maker of their computer and Operating System they use. They worship him and are irrational, maybe they have "faith" that you are looking for.

Love geeks,
ok that is why there is a lot of guys and girls.
The true guy that you would find is hard to find.. A loyal guy.
A loyal guy that is true to his love.
That is very hard to find in this world..
That is what i think

Guys always make mistake.

1) I personally (after being brought up in a religious environment) found that religion couldn't answer questions that I had at the time I was growing up. The answers I did get conflicted with my observations of the world around me. I'm 45 years old and the moon landings were just taking place when I was an inquisitive boy and eager to learn. This really fired my imagination to the possibilities of science and the fact that most things had a logical basis that could be extrapolated through science, whereas religion left huge gaps and didn't seem to want to encourage my independent thinking. Therefor I became disenchanted with religion and all its trappings.

I have no problem with religion, and fully support someone's right to believe in what they want, except when it starts interfering with my lifestyle. Basically I just find it a restricted way of thinking. I don't deny that maybe there is some overall "creator" - energy, force or logic to the Universe, but based on what I know I could not call that God or give it credence purely on the basis of a text or book (which often tend to be cobbled together from various sources anyway).

So put simply, I wouldn't deliberately date a religious person because I would find their thinking "limiting" (ie not being able to readily accept thinking that is outside the box so to speak). I don't dislike people because of their beliefs, that's fine for them - it just isn't for me. I'm happy believing there is no heaven, and we all get recycled into energy in a different form.

2) Personality, intellect, wit, physical beauty, loyalty, attentiveness,

3) Looks not so much, if they have bags of personality. I like women who can surprise me intellectually as I tend to pigeonhole people. Weight I would have a problem with if excessive as I'd be wondering is said person got fat due to laziness or illness. Shallow, but truthful sadly.

Wow! I wrote a thesis! I hope this helps! :-)

PS. I'm divorced... wonder if any of the above had anything to do with it?!!

You put loyalty lower then personality, wit, and how they look? o.0

I think the whole religion thing comes from most geeks being stubborn...lol I mean geeks are fairly intelligent people, we think more than the average person does. Since geeks mainly sort of lean towards the logical and scientific way of figuring out things, some of us just believe that religion in general is a waste of time. Once we think we've figured something out, its very hard to change our minds. Dating religious people (in my experience as I was never religious to a great extent) when your not religious is just an issue from day one, because to the people who ARE religious, its for the most part a done deal, they wont change there way of thinking just like someone who's not religious would, and the trouble starts from then on. I've had experiences like that, my previous relationship was like that. I didn't say she was wrong about her religion or made any indication that I believed I was right, I told her that religion in general just seems a little closed minded to me. Some people can make it work in a situation like that, most people cant.

it is possible that many geeks oppose or simply avoid religious ceremonies *ppl who get bored during them usually*....it may not be the woman

far as looks and weight go isn't a big deal....long as they have a great sense of humor......although i wouldn't wanna approach someone that looked like jaba the hut :)

every guy is different regardless if they are a geek or not

besides a sense of humor its kinda important to have some similarities in activities so theres always something to do....if someone was a polar opposite all hell would break loose lol

theres always more traits but thats good enough for now
