I knew I was a Geek when my mum bought the first computer into our house and it was running Windows 95. I was straight on it and changing settings. I had probably NEVER used a computer before then.

Thats a difficult question, but I guess that I knew that I am a geek since I got to know more than one operating system, trying out more programming languages and other technical stuff.

I knew I was a Geek when IBM hired me as an Employee. This lasted 16 years and then I got downsized and they hired me back as a consultant for another 5 years.
I realize now that I am always been a bit different. I just couldn't put my finger on why. The tinkering and wanting to know how things work has been with me since I could remember.
It started of with tinkering with the lawnmower and then the radio. Then when I bought my home, I started doing all the repairs on the appliances. Hey, one doesn't have to know what is wrong. All they need is someone to tell them and then have enough sense to figure out how to replace the part.
I work on my car by changing the oil, plug wires, changing a bad sensor and keeping things in good shape even now.
Now, computers came into all of this back in the nineties. I had worked using computers but I when I got my first one, I wanted to know what made it tick. I finally destroyed it but hey, I learned a thing or two.
When I came here, I felt like I had finally found my home.
I love yáll people and can relate. If I don't know something, I only have to ask and there is someone willing to help. Of course, I help too when I can. Now, there are some on here who thinks that I know nothing. hee hee
I knew I was a geek then I first started typing on a keyboard, 3 years old. It was running 98 and From that point I started geeking out. I used the computer so much that my parents only let me be on the pc 2 days a week. That was 10 years ago, and look at me now: 7 to 12 hours a day in front of the screen. Lol, well you got my answear i think :)
When I started actually learning DOS commands in 1988. I actually thought about it a little, and got nervous. I did not want my friends to know, because computers to me back then were for bookworms, and slowly, I was becoming a GEEK/NERD just like them,, now,, I am out of control, full blown GEEK lunatic.
