same GUI as vista, same filesystem, different folders organization(more like unix)
slighty faster than vista, and the "superbar" is nice, work basically like dock on snow leopard, i would say exactely, but it is in a taskbar.
nice finder and preview function, remember me alot of kde4 if you know what it is.
overall is good, but i would wait sp1 to upgrade, also i dont suggest to use it on old pc, despite what people saying, you may have alot of trouble to find driver, for old hardware.
but if you have a relative new pc, with good videocard and 4 or more gb of ram, then go for it, you wont regret it.
It's better then vista, it's only an improvement from vista...it's a great operating system big thumbs up go for it.
But it will likely be hell for you if you upgrading from XP, depending on ur hardware.
It's no harder then vista to install rly. You'll like it. If you've ran vista you'll run 7 just as fine...
I See 0 performance difference between the 2, other then windows 7 looking a little different and being more user friendly.

That's good. Upgrading from XP to 7 kinda sucks.
I really like it, I'd recommend it in a heartbeat, especially since you've been using Vista. Everything seems smooth and useful. My two favorite features are the side windows and the nice little search feature in the start menu.

I upgraded yesterday on my new machine but I've had Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit installed on my 2 (almost 3) year old Laptop since mid August. The Laptop has given me a few BSODs but on this newer Desktop machine the only problem that I had was with some software for my Web Cam that I had to uninstall and then reinstall using Compatibility Mode.
I also had an issue with it not seeing the IR Blaster for the TV Tuner but I did a Shutdown and then let it rest while I ate dinner then started it up again and it worked fine.
I've been using Windows 7 for almost a year now, and it's so good, that even while still in RC-1 release, I formatted one of my computers and use 7 on it exclusively. The only problem you may have is your printer. Make sure you can get a 7 driver or that it's included in the install package. In all honesty, it's as stable as XP and has all the power of Vista Ultimate - no kidding. However, if you're wanting some adventure, install Ubuntu 9.10 and watch the sky light up. I dual boot these two systems and actually like Ubuntu better. However, again, the printer issue. If you have an HP printer, chances are you'll be fine with either system as HP actually has a Linux support and driver site.
Any more questions, you can find my business email on my site and write to me.
I've just installed Windows 7 Ultimate and it is AWESOME!
Most incompatibilities are taken care of as you are prompted to reinstall with compatibilty settings. It uses DirectX 11 so the graphics are not only better but use less processing power, it's fast and has some really cool features. If you don't yet have it, GET IT!
