Leme get this straight...You have a laptop and you want to connect another monitor too it and extend your desktop?

Actually I have a desktop and laptop and I want to run dual monitors on the desktop, using the laptop as the second monitor. Or just hooking up a second monitor.

Depends on the graphics card.

If you have a graphics card that has two ports to plug in to, then you're set.

You right click on desktop, go to settings, and set up your dual monitor.

If however, you don't, then you'd need a second graphics card.

What about if I have have a laptop and desktop? Can use the laptop as a second monitor?

No, I don't think so.

But you could use the monitor from the desktop as a second monitor for the laptop. Possibly.

I configure to be an extended desktop.

I am not sure if you can use a laptop screen as a second display for a desktop machine. As for dual monitors on a desktop, well you need a compatible card to start with, and then you simply right-click the desktop, click the settings button for your graphics card and follow the instructions.

Take care.

No, you can't "borrow" the laptop screen as an independent monitor to use as a second desktop display. Not in the traditional way anyway.

Yes! It is possible.

I looked into this a while back, I don't know now, but back then it seemed to be sluggish, even with only 24 bit colors, so you may want to invest in Gigabit networking, but by all means, check out the trial.
