Download Our Windows 7 Tips!

I just downloaded the "DO-NOT-DOWNLOAD" alpha of the Google Chrome browser for Linux. I'm using it on Windows and really loves it there, and wanted to check out if they even had made anything for Linux.
What I found out is that it's MUCH faster than Firefox 3.0 (yes, 3.0, waiting for Ubuntu to update to 3.5 in repos...). Webpages just loads faster and JavaScript is faster too.
Ofc, as they say, it's still in alpha, and is very incomplete and have bugs (no Flash player support and minor issues, such as while I'm writing this I can't see the blinking text-cursor thingy that tells where I'm writing...).
The start page, with your recently visited sites, are even differently set up, and I actually prefers the Linux style over the Windows :)
And the best thing is that it isn't just a WINE port. It is really made for Linux. And you download it as a deb file that is easy to install, and not just a source code that you have to compile yourself ;)

yeah, I gave it the most recent release a try. It looks like that they're actually gonna start focusing more on the Linux version too, now that the OS X release is getting closer and closer for final release. :)

And yes, I've been using the Windows version since January - I absolutely LOVE Chrome. Webkit is just purely AMAZING! :)

I think with the OS X release of Chrome just around the corner, and the announcement of the Google Chrome Operating System, I'm hoping to see MASSIVE leaps in development of the Linux Version of Chrome! :) Maybe before the year is over? Wishful thinking, so maybe next year?

For the Chrome OS, they'll maybe just use the Linux version of Chrome, meaning that a release couldn't be far away. Also from what I've seen, there's only the Flash player and some bug fixing to do before it's finished.

yeah. The latest release actually does look more complete. :) So maybe it isn't too far away. I'm still waiting for full GTK theming support though. I'd also like to see QT support too - would be cool. considering most browsers for Linux are either Just GTK or just QT, yanno.
