Who could forget Tron? That's the quintessential "computer" movie. Way ahead of its time in digital effects, and the concept of being inside a monstrous computer that was bent on world domination was quite fun to take in. It even had "bits" as sidekicks. :)

The first one that came to mind was "Tron." Then "Looker" (1981) about a high-tech company that's using computers to enhance advertising.

Did you know there is a Hackers 2? Other good movies include:

Tron
Antitrust
The Net
The Cube series
The Matrix series
Johnny Mnemonic
Pirates of Silicon Valley
Wargames

Out of all those (good choices, BTW), my all time fave is WarGames (even with all the mushroom-cloud-sized plot holes!)

Close second is Tron, then Matrix, then The Net.

How about the "Max Headroom" TV movie? That one, you had to be a true geek to appreciate. Also, Buckaroo Banzai was geeky in it's own special way (the main character was a geek-chic polymath)!
