its just the way that some people relate the word geek too. Maybe in the future it will change, but u say the word geek to most people and they will think some little nerdy computer geek, just the way it seems to go. And personally i dont really care what other people think, they can peg me as a geek anyway they wish, dosent mean its true or means anything.
Probably because to entertain simple bored minds some people need to be demeaning and use names like Geek to be hurtful instead of uplifting. Classic narcissism, wherein someone makes others feel bad for the sake of making themselves feel better. I think it is also a defensive act because they are afraid to be associated with a label.
I guess it all comes down to fear. Fear of what others might think and fear of the unknown. I can think of times in my life where I hated on someone different than myself because I saw them as a possible threat. After having to work with them and rub shoulders for a while I realized they weren't so bad after all.
Generalizing is because our brain naturally categorizes. A woman abused by one man can get the silly idea all men are like that from lack of experience. Just like a kid who burns his hand on a stove once, learns the idea all stove tops are dangerous.
Some of the sexiest people out there are Geeks,, look at Veronica Belmont, Molly Wood, to name a couple. There are also many guys that are not the stereotypical Pearshaped, Bottle lensed glasses wearing, pocket full O pen carrying Goobs. Hell many of those guys and gals are right here. Hell, we should have our own Geek Calendar pin up. Look at many of the profile pages on Geeks. Anything but boring.
