I am a non smoker (never have, never will) and I have had family members die from lung cancer and emphysema due directly to smoking (my dad being one of them). And even my mother has a permanent cough and diminished lung capacity due to smoking. And all the "preaching", explaining and showing full color pictures of diseased lungs for decades did not even help. I guess the old saying is sad but true - A slave who loves their chains will never be free. I hate the end result of what legal drugs can do.

I believe that smoking should be banned in most public places. And in most of those places, it has been.

Smoking will never stop, and you won't be able to stop it. America is based off of creating a business and making as much money from that business as possible. If smoking were to banned, everything that America stood for would be brought into question. The government isn't about to destroy America's reputation THAT fast (although they're pretty darn close...).

I will never smoke, though. I think it's a nasty habit.

But, with all the second hand smoke that I've receieved, I'm pretty sure that I'll die 10-15 years short of where I should. Been around smokers since I was born, and I only got out of it about 5 years ago. So that's second hand smoke for the first ten years of my life, every day.

My mom smoked for 18 years and quit.
And for my cousins 14th birthday, her dad is quitting smoking.

Part of me doesn't care if people smoke.
It's their life. Their body. Their death.
But then I consider that the smoke affects me too.
I could die faster than what I would if I didn't have second hand smoke to deal with.
So, at that point.. I do care. Because I hate choking on smoke.
I don't want to get lung cancer from 2nd hand smoke, when I choose to not smoke and avoid it as much as I can.
I don't mind what people want to do to their bodies.
But when it affects me and other people, then it's just not cool.

That widget is to help the petition or something.
And in PA smoking in public places/bars/restaurants is illegal for the most part.

There've been talks (in Michigan at least) of legalizing smoking in many public places (besides government buildings of course). Thankfully, there are enough people that say no to stuff like that.

I've been around smoke so much that sometimes I actually SMELL cigarette smoke, and I actually start to get bloodshot eyes and all the effects it used to do to me back when I was little. It sucks, because I think it's ruining my LIFE. I hate it.

When I go to concerts, they section off a designated space for people to smoke.... which just so happens to be at the front door. So the smoke still carries into the venue and clouds the air anyway. Plus there are no bouncers, so people smoke inside anyway. And what's worse... is it's just a bunch of hair-spray obsessed emo kids that chain smoke like the world is about to end. D;

I don't go to concerts much anymore because of it.

I don't go to concerts because the real thing never sounds as good as the recording XD

But that's just stupid. Smoking sections should be in a corner, far away. Otherwise it just defeats the purpose.

In fact, they should be put in like, an air tight box that filters the air.

Or better yet, NO SMOKING AT A CONCERT. There, problem solved. Oh but wait, can't do that. Gotta protect their rights to Pursuit of Happiness. Too bad that screws with most peoples' right to LIFE.

Haha yeah most bands are nothing without digital editing. Psssh.
But there are a few bands that sound just as good if not better than the CD's.
Those... are the true talented ones. C8!

& yeah.
It really does defeat the purpose.
When you buy cigarettes, you might as well just sign up for cancer.

Remember kids... you can't sing with a hole in your throat. ;)

I was in an anti-smoking club for 4 years in high school. I learned so many things about the nasty habit, and heard a lot of horror stories. I think it should be made illegal along with alcohol. They're both discusting and kill people. I refuse to do either.

Good idea! I do the same, but have never been in any club of that kind! These things doesn't do any good. I understand, though, that people may become addicted to the feelings they procure them. But that's sad. .. But hey I have my addictions too.. ^^ (But .. they don't kill anyone.)
