Can any discussion on Geeks be done without negativity taking over?
I am like everyone else on here, I create discussions, blogs and participate in others, but usually, no matter what is posted, we always end up with people being negative, rude or just unable to be polite!
Why do you think this is? Of course, you are not allowed to be negative in your responses!

Yeah but it's not just on Geeks that people are negative towards others or rude. It's all over the internet, people say things on the internet they would never say in real life because the internet is a wall of protection for them, and those things are most also negatively based, and I hope that wasn't a shock for anyone that people in general over the internet and more negative and rude towards each other than in real life.
The only place on the internet were I know people are positive and supportive of each other are on sports forums where everyone is supporting the same team. So it can be done, I'm with you though that it just can't be done of Geeks.

I find the comments on youtube to be incredible at times. I am actually suprised my own material has not been targetted in some way. But anyone who takes the tiem to create anything, whether you like it or not, has to be seen as somethign positive. The buggest moaners never seem to produce anything, they are too busy slagging off everyone else!

Very, very true. The ability to hide and snide, is the most annoying trait on the Internet, and I'm sure we are all guilty of this at some point! Maybe it needs a group of people to try and lead the way, and hopefully start a change of attitude online?
Though, some people just seem to thrive on Trolling, just the same as there are bullies out there in school and in the workplace.....
You only have to read the press about kids who have commited suicide due to the nastiness of peopel online, pushing and goading them until they can take no more.... so sad...

Many times if something gets my Ire Up then I just close that particular browser window and be done with it.

I do not think there is a good reason to be rude. Anyone can have a different opinion but they do not have to be hateful about it.
I posted something yesterday and this morning when I read the post, someone said that what I posted had nothing to do with Geeks. Right. This kid hasn't been here long has he? ha ha

This is Geeks, not just tech Geeks, Comp. geeks, Apple people, MS people, etc.

You're right, it can't be done. That being said, there is always someone out there that want's conflict or drama. Let's call them Drama queens. These people feed on negativity and getting people to fight.
Best thing you can do? ignore them as most are children that want drama.

To be judged strictly by the content and representation of the negative "arguement", ie... trolling vs. valid points and facts of the oposite nature. However, I do know what you mean. A couple posters who have become regular here come to mind, if I was a moderator I would delete the whole frickin' account and not say anything. LOL!
