Stuff like this is why I don't use AT&T. Therefore, unfortunately, I'll never have an iPhone. :( If they are going to charge $55 that's not fair, you are already paying for the access. I think if they charge anything then it should be $20 and no more.

I think Apple should keep AT&T on as a carrier I just think Apple should bring the iPhone to other carriers. This kinda stuff will happen whenever there is a long term exclusive deal with a carrier because right now AT&T holds a monopoly on the iPhone. If Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile had iPhone as well AT&T couldn't do this.

They updated it, AT&T says that was just a rumor. It really shouldn't be an extra cost since it's just data (like using Safari on your iPhone) and a person would just be surfing the internet and not downloading millions of files. If they do charge anything, it should just be something like a pay-per-use thing so you only pay a certain amount each time you use it.

Oh my god.

I pay about $45 every month for my iPhone which includes 100MB of data, 100 minutes of call time, 100 text messages, which is all more than enough for everyday use.

I can already tether, I can already send MMS-s.
I can tether without extra cost.
(Except data, which is $.20/MB, actually quite cheap, where I live)

O2 in the UK are charging money for tethering that is equivalent to the price of getting about 16MB internet dedicated line! What is the point?

Any way possible for At&t to siphon every last penny from it's already over charged users. What is even worse is they are un prepared to do so. Tethering is nothing new, and it would seem to me if I am a stockholder I'd be pissed that At&t did not start doing this with the Iphone 2 years ago. A HUGE REVENUE source squandered by these idiots.
