If so, what programs do you record religiously? Could you live without it ? I know when I go to hotels it sucks having to watch commercials, and all the ridiculous channel surfing. It's so 1990's.

Yeah i'm hooked. I can't imagine going back to not having it now. I have season passes for Smallville, Supernatural, 24, House, numbers, friday night lights and lie to me.

I don't use "TiVo", but I do use the DVR from my cable company. I record The Office, Locked up Abroad, and various news shows that air while I am at the gym.

I also have a DVR and Record the Sunday Morning News Shows so that I can sleep in. Especially "Meet The Press".

I can't even imagine not having my season passes and dual tuners. I never watch anything without at least being ahead of it enough to skip the commercials. Imagine the old days when I watched a baseball game and had to get through all the commercial breaks at inning and pitcher changes ... good grief.

Sports in general is so much better now because of TIVO. Football and Baseball is littered with commercial breaks. From pitching changes, to time outs, inning changes, Quarter endings, challenges, injuries, there is always a reason for a #$%^^&* commercial!

I have never used TiVo...

I use the DVR Service from Cablevision...

And yes, I'm hooked, and I love it. :)

I'm sorry, but the DVR from your cable company is NOT Tivo.
I had an older Tivo, then when Comcast rolled out HD to my area, I got one of their HD DVR's.
It was utter crap.
It didn't have "true" season passes.
It couldn't remember if it had recorded a show or not, so it would keep recording the same shows over and over.
The response from the remote was terrible. It would queue up your commands and not respond for 10 secs. and then do all 20 commands at once.
I only lasted 2 months before I had to get another Tivo.
My new one is dual tuner, so no problems recording multiple shows and watching what's already been recorded.

Another GREAT thing about the HD Tivo's (and maybe series 2) is the NetFlix streaming.
It starts playing almost immediately. I've waited longer for a YouTube video to load.
The video looks and plays great, no out-of-sync audio or pixelated video. It Just Works !

As far as season passes go, I've got about 50+ set up.

I have Tivo in the Den and living room, they are networked together, and we play our music throughout the house with them. My season pass list in the living room, really needs to be cleaned up. Too many to list.
