So! Are there any Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans lurking around?
The show may have been canceled for 10 years now, but the following is still just as strong!
I never watched it when it was on originally. When I went back to college a few years ago I remember some people talking about it, so I got some episodes on Netflix and loved it. Not all episodes amused me, but over all I'm a fan.
My degree is in communications (Radio & TV Broadcasting) and I respect locally produced and Internet produced media products. The fact that they were able to produce the show for a local tv station (KTMA-TV 23) and when the station was sold and the show was canceled, they managed to get it picked up by the Comedy Channel (which became Comedy Central) and the got it on SciFi - that is a huge accomplishment.
Griff, or anyone else, have you guys' seen the gangs' new Internet based project - Cinematic Titanic?
I really miss the annual "Turkey Day" MST3k marathons on Comedy Central -- since I don't eat turkey, it gave me something to look forward to on Thanksgiving!
I think my favorite episodes were "Mitchell" and "Pod People."
What a great show. It died on Scifi unfortunately, which had a great library of bad scifi movies but I thought MST3K was at its best watching horrible non-scifi flicks.
I was so obsessed with the show in the late 1990s I ran a news site for the show --- Appleberry. I think for awhile it was actually earning decent traffic. I shut it down after I lost interest.
Oh MST3k I miss you! I try to get the box sets when I can. Favorite episodes have to be "Squirm", "Space Mutiny", and the very first show I saw "Hobgoblins"!
