The most important things you can do is fix your nutrition and follow an exercise plan.

Doing thousands of sit-ups wont do much for losing weight...

You will need to be doing 30-45 mins cardio at least 2 times a week. Cardio is any constant movement of your body (jogging, cycling and swimming), it does not have to be intense, just make sure you keep moving for a minimum of 30mins. You may need to work up to 30mins if your fitness is low.

Lifting weights once or twice a week will also benefit you. The more muscle you have the more calories you will burn during the day - hence speeding up fat loss. Press ups, sit ups, pull ups etc. Compound exercises will give you most bang for your buck.

Nutrition wise drink plenty of water, eat plenty vegetables and fruit, and try to have at least a little protein every meal. (tuna, eggs, chicken etc). + a little healthy fats (like nuts/ex virgin olive oil). Cut out sugar, alcohol and junk food as much as possible.

You will benefit from reading some books about health and exercise, maybe motivation too!

You say that you find it too hard... this article may help you.

dieting sucks ass. i will say that right now. i don't do it. i used to eat mass quantities of food and i got pretty chunky for a girl my height. (short) what i did was just stop eating SO MUCH food. I just stop eating before i feel full. it takes the body 20min or so to actually feel full and if you stop at 80% of your eating, you'll realize that you are actually not hungry.
i don't have the most healthy diet, i love red meat, bacon and cokes. As long as you stop subscribing to the "clean plate club" way of thinking, you'll eventually realize that you don't need as much food (quantity wise)as you thought you did.

Start eating smaller portions, don't snack, and when you get hungry just drink water.

Working out also helps in-between. I lost weight significantly a few years back because I was anorexic and it is only now that I have accepted putting on weight (as muscle).

Take care.

It's not really what you eat.. I lost 50lbs in two months after listening to my nurse. (My medicine made me gain my weight back). Anyways, she says to gain weight it has to be ingested, she said therefore you must allow it to "leave" the body. Sweating is only part of it. When you sweat you burn calories but drinking plenty of liquids will flush the fat out of your system. In lamens terms... After eating go walking around the block, ride a bike, roller blade (anything physical). You can drink water or you can do what i do. I go to Wal-mart and buy the "sugar free" punch in a canister, there are 6 tiny cups of powdered punch inside and each cup makes 2qrts (12 total). I HATE diet drinks but this taste like real koolaid with real sugar. I also drink the tea they make with lemon. It's great. You can also do green tea if you can stand it. (Don't do vitaminwater though, it has lots of sugar in it).

Hi I lost like 15 lbs in 2 months. I followed the south beach diet. then when i saw that i was losing weight i started exercising and eating 6x a day.. small portions and less bad carbs.

Just some things i thought of when i was dieting:

1. it will take time to lose the weight i had gained in months.
2. take the stairs instead the elevator
3. more veggies and steam food that fried
4. reward myself with non food items when i lose 5 lbs until i reach my goal weight

my advice is that any form of conventional diet i.e soup diet will not work in the long run. As you'll simply get sick of it and start eating what you normally would then get bigger.

Instead think about foods you like to eat whetever there good or bad. Go look at the calories information and get some scales and calculate how many calories would be in a typical portion you would have (you should be able to calculate this from the calories information on the packaging). This can be a great way for you to realise how much calories are actually in the quanitites you eat. You only need around 2000 calories a day for a girl and 2500 a day for a man. And at least 1000 calories are consumed by your brain. At the start you'll want to create a small deficeit in the total calories you intake per day say around a few hundred. This way you'll slowly loose weight, it will take time but it's the healthyist way to loose weight.

Also think about the types of food you eat, if you like alot of high protien, high fat food like burgers ect. Then prehaps you should explore teaming these foods up with healthier options, how about a burger and a salad rather than a burger and fries. Be carefull with high calorie carbohydrate like potato for instace. I see alot of people in the UK wolf down large quanitites of ths stuff with a equally large portion of meat and very little veg. If you realise that this carb is very high in calories, a bit like the meat then you can see how so many people have weight problems.

Really I find the key is to reduce your intake of high calorie foods, and increase your intake of veggies and slightly healthier alternatives. If you get intrested in cooking you can geat a lot of control over the quality of food you have and, it's actually fun (I used to hate cooking, but now i find it really fun).

And yes theres no subsitute for good exercise thats another important ingreediant of not only loosing weight but being healthier and keeping the lose weight off. You don't need a gym some of the best exercise can be a brisk walk for 30mins a day, or a go for a run if you really want to feel it. Exercise also realse endorphines which will help you feel good :) If you want to try and put on some muscle that will actually help you burn the calories faster as muscle uses calories to maintain it'self.

Anyway thats just stuff that helped me when I had my chubby phase a few years ago. If it sounds hard then I'm sorry to say that theres no really easy solutions. However give it a go explore some new food types, I wish you every sucess with this. And just remember once you figure out your own combination of foods, portion sizes and exercise that works for you and get into it then it becomes second nature, cause you created a good habit :)

Here's a tip to lose weight;
Drink skim milk instead of full cream every day - this will reduce your annual calorie intake by more than 20,000 calories which is roughly equivalent to more than 6 pounds of fat.

Also eating more smaller meals a day (5) will help speed up your metabolism & lose some weight.

Also try & modify your diet with these weight loss tips....
