Crohn's Disease

Hey everyone. My 13 year old daughter, Beka, was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease this past December. Since that time, I have done a lot of research. I didn't know much about it before, and now I know how prevalent this nasty disease really is. Anytime I talk about it to someone, they normally say "OMG! I know ______ who has it, too".

Are any of you dealing with Crohn's, or know someone who is? I'd love to find others to talk with about this, almost like a support group.

Its quite difficult on the outside looking in, but sharing stories with my co-workers on how to deal with a loved one having an illness sure helps relive stress and you learn so much.

Just find a good physician, and tell her to take very good care of herself. There might be a worry of when she gets in the throes of puberty/adolescence, some kids with chronic diseases rebel and not follow their treatment plans (ie, they might disregard their diets or medication because their friends don't have to, or the whole invincibility thing), some of them bottle up because they see that not everyone has to watch their diet and symptoms as much as the next, so just be very supportive, and help her take care of herself.; ▶ Reply to This
