I'd just tell them it's a place where people can broadcast their videos and that they should just go to the site and check it out for themselves.

I've had to explain what you tube was before, to a bunch of senior citizens, and I said was that it was a site where people can post videos of whatever they wanted for people to view, and I showed it to the class I was teaching, they suggested things to look up like common old people stuff and they all had a blast it was great fun.
