Is it just me, or does Quicktime suck?

I am an Apple fan, I really am. I have an iPod Touch, use Safari and iTunes and soon hope to be getting an iMac, I like Apple. But is it just me or does Quicktime really suck?

Don't get me wrong, I love the UI, it is perfect. Simple, everything you need and nothing you don't type of design. Plus it matches iTunes and Safari (the other programs I run most often) and not to sound like Martha Stuart, but don't you love it when programs match?

Anyway, Quicktime runs at a snails pace for me. I don't mean to sound like a speed-brat, but over taking over 30 seconds to load a 8 minute video just seems insane when other programs load the same video much quicker.

To be fair, I am running Vista at the moment... I know, I know, throw your tomatoes at me if you wish, but it's all i've got right now.

Anyway, is Quicktime better than I think and is it better on OSX?
