I was curious to see if the Geeks here have heard of GeekPAC, and what your thoughts on it were?
We often hear about PACs (Political Action committees) and other special interest groups convincing politicians and lawmakers to vote for and support legislation that infringes on our information rights. (ie DMCA, IP/copyright reform, open formats, net neutrality, etc) GeekPAC is focused on educating and supporting lawmakers so that they make the "right" decisions on these issues impact all of our lives daily.
Our second goal is to help you keep track of how your representatives are voting on these issues. We are the process of building a voter information site, that will allow you to track this data, as well as contribute to it. Do you know how your senator voted on the DMCA? You would be surprised to hear, it won by a landslide 99 to 1! And that 1 was just absent.
We would love to hear your feedback on these projects, invite you to join us as well. To learn more about us I am including some links to articles about us bellow:
