Download Our Windows 7 Tips!

From what I've been seeing and experiencing, Windows isn't doing too good lately, let alone Microsoft.

They've already dropped mainstream support for XP (Now they are only fixing security), and 2014, XP will officially no longer be supported. So Windows users will be stuck with sharing fixes for xp, using vista, or getting used to W7.

And lately, MS has upset a lot of people off with this DRM business. Not to mention their failing Zune. I mean, zune is good and all, but it's just another copy.

I'm not talking in biast form either. I love Windows XP (Even though i hate Windows all together). I'm a linux man personally, and prefer linux/mac over Windows any day.

But what do you guys think? Do you think Windows is going to last? or how long? Do you think they will do okay when W7 releases? I'm very curious to everyones thoughts on Windows atm, so figured I'd ask.

Windows will need to make some major changes if they are to survive.

As much as I dislike Microsoft they will be around for some time to come. But in todays market anything can happen.

you are right snick but windows will remain for a long time even if they do make mistakes just because of some of the collaborations like pc games only work on windows and some printers and scaners don't work on other operating system ,take my cellphone (nokia 6708) for example it would only sync with win xp and win vista

Yea. I see Windows only as a good gaming option. But now, Linux is catching up with the game world, and that's definitely not good for Windows. Just about any game on Windows can be played on Linux one way or another at the current moment. Even if it's crappy play.

Linux from what I've seen plays most games better on than it does on Windows.

So if the great programmers figure out how to master the works of getting the mass of games, and the new ones to come, to work on linux, with little modification, say "badbye" to Windows.

@DabuDabu
You sir, must understand, if Other programmers (/OS Programmers) master the gaming world, I'm PRETTY SURE they can figure out how to make it USER FRIENDLY LIKE THEY HAVE Been.

you get common sense...

A few years ago it was the trend to have the smallest mobile phone, today it doesn't matter how big the phone is, but what it can actually do.... in the same way the world is coming to it's senses with respect to OS's. People are tired of shodie service, constant PC crashes, viruses, over priced programs, etc. MAC's are becoming more affordable, give it another year or so and then let's have this chat again and let's see what you have to say then.... Cheers mate :-)

Windows isn't going anywhere anytime soon. You have to remember that the majority of people aren't geeks and don't like changing what they are already accustomed to.

Give this guy a medal. He speaks the utter truth. Windows own a vast majority of the OS share. Even with OS X and Linux combined it doesn't out do it in the market share.

Wonder if people were having the same discussions about good old Commodore International? Back in the early 90's.

And we all know happened to them. :(
