Favorite Linux Distro?

What is your favorite linux distro and please feel free to elaborate. Tell us your experience with it and why you enjoy it so much. I personally love linux in general, but as of right now I'm using my own modified version of ubuntu.

I love the fact that I compile everything specifically for my machine. There's a bit of some overhead when setting everything up, but when you're done you have a blazing fast, tailored machine.

It also helps that the first few times you set up a machine you _really_ get to know the linux utilities.; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by Patrickometry on February 9, 2009 at 11:37pm: I have Ubuntu's latest .. Hardy Heron .. Gnome default. I used to use it as my primary OS on my Dell e1505 laptop. I switched back to Vista a few months ago. Not sure exactly why. I had been using Ubuntu for a year or two. Anyways, I barely visit that side of my computer anymore. When I do, it's just to update Ubuntu and see what's new. Funny, I posted two blog entries on my queer blog about Ubuntu (specifically styling the Avant Window Manager & styling the Compiz Fusioin Skydome) and they are both the most popular posts over all my other content. It's odd because they literally make 90% of all my traffic mostly from Ubuntu geeks and my site is primarily queer oriented. :)
