Download Our Windows 7 Tips!

Okay well. i've always been interested in networks. Obviously.

I'm on about 30mb down/3mb up Internet, depending on the day it can be lower. Especially the download, since it's cable it differs with neighbors and all.

But anyway

My network (with details)

cable internet

Vonage. & PS2

6 Computers online. sometimes 7 to 9 depending if I'm testing, or friends come over.

3 wireless, 3 Wired.

Modded Linksys WRT5GS - Also, I have a 64mb Ram P1, 1.2gb HDD that i have setup with linux for routing. Multiple NIC's & ETC. Also with a hub. but i don't use that much.

The Linux Router PC also has an IDS setup for the obvious. need to protect the network eh :P.

Using samba as well for sharing between PC's.

So anyone?

My network is Linksys with an airport express (and speakers for streaming audio and a shared wireless printing setup), cable internet 8Mb. On network (all wireless) are my MacBook (River), 2 no-name Dell Inspirons, one new and one clunker, and older G4 tower (Deevd) for my nephew and my ancient indigo iMac (Sydney) as a sort of "whatever" computer.

Wow, everyone has some neat setups going on.

I like the VPN setup especially.

Neat hearing all these different routers and how you use them too. makes for good purchasing later.

Ah.

I'm wanting to get a new router, this Linksys (WRT) is good and all, but the speed is slow.

I just recently setup media centers in the house for the PCs. With all that streaming going on with sharing movies with the family and friends, the Linksys router holds up, but becomes congested.
