Should I get my High School Diploma or Ged? the reason im asking is because i want to be a pc tech but heard it doesnt matter
I cant wait too long either thats why im leaning more to GED
If you have a reputation with computers, you don't need any education.
However, if you want to be an employer, or employee, you need to take a computers course.
There's plenty of programs out there that will help you go through computer courses and help you get your GED/some type of diploma.
:)
I'm not certified in any type of computers fields or hardware/software, yet people are calling me constantly on the phone asking for this and that about them, and dropping their PC's off to be fixed at my house.
lol .... surprisingly I don't want a job with computers, that's a side thing for me. I'll be going to Medic school soon to be a paramedic
I believe nowadays with recruitment levels so low the military has been recruiting high school dropouts, people over the age of forty, and even people with medical conditions.
In my opinion a diploma is better. However if your wanting a degree in computer science you'd need to attend a jr college first. It really doesn't matter as long as you study hard and have a high GPA at the jr college you shouldn't have any problems with only having a GED
A diploma will get you into more accredited colleges/continued school. And if you want to move to a different career later in life, a GED might not get you there.
They should both be technically the same- a lot more people are getting GEDs than before but sometimes GED's are looked down upon by snooty people (though it really doesn't matter, you get out of education what you put into it). If you get a GED and follow it up with a couple community college classes (especially IT, or whatever you're interested in) you'll be golden... ). [If your goal is to get into a specific school, check with them to see what they think of the GED- if they don't care, don't stress about it, but if they prefer a diploma, go that way.]
More important is to get some experience: interning, volunteering, anything - even small amounts, even unpaid - counts for a lot more to employers than if your credentials say "diploma" or "GED". Srsly. Be the ad-hoc computer volunteer for some cool little organization in your neighborhood, be creative- at this level, employers generally care more about interest and initiative rather than what kind of basic ed you have. Any experience will make you really stand out and help you build yer skillz.
GED/Diploma is just a tool to get you somewhere... good luck yo
Get your high school diploma. It will always look better for you in the long run for when you get older. GED just makes it look like you got lazy and backed out so I'd say stick with getting your high school diploma!
